People have enjoyed slider puzzle games where players move around jumbled tiles to re-arrange them in their original configurations from as far back as the 1800s. Of course, the original games were played mechanically, but you can now enjoy the same experience on your computer. Although 15 Slide Puzzle still uses this simple concept, it makes games even more challenging using magic square solutions.
Playing the free slide puzzle game is as easy as clicking the “New Game” button, but you may first select your desired image by pressing the “Load Pic” button. As soon as you press the “New Game” button, the tiles making up the image become jumbled and the timer starts ticking. However, the original image or arrangement appears on the upper right part of the program window.
The game’s name comes from the number of tiles a player moves around. You can move the tiles around in any direction using any number of combinations. Apart from using pictures, you can play with either letters or numbers. Numbers are the program’s default graphics, but it comes with a small selection of images you can use in addition to other pictures on your computer.
15 Slide Puzzle displays the best time and least number of moves recorded on the lower right corner of the program window. As you play, the timer displays every second of elapsed time and the number of moves you make. You can take a maximum of one hour during a game or cancel your play at any time. Please note you cannot resume a canceled game.
The 15/14 puzzle configuration has the last two pieces inverted, which means the puzzle cannot be solved mathematically. The game automatically ends when you reach this point. Disabling this potential limits full randomization, and the program will generate fewer numbers of unique puzzles.
Sound effects enhance your play, but you may turn them off by clicking the speaker icon on the lower right corner of the user interface.
