USB devices are becoming increasingly popular because of their convenience and ease of use. On the other hand, they also make it easier for unscrupulous individuals to access sensitive information. It is therefore important to have an effective method of preventing unauthorized access, which is what USB Port Locked does.
USB Port Locked is a portable application that requires no installation and consumes minimal system resources. When you launch the executable file, the application opens a compact and simple window that gives you access to all its features.
It has two prominent buttons for locking and unlocking USB ports respectively, with three smaller buttons on the lower side labeled Read Me, About and Exit. On the left side is a padlock image showing the current status of your USB port, whether it is locked or not.
If you want to lock USB ports, you must perform the task before you connect any device to the ports. If you try to lock the ports with a device already connected, other people will still have full access to them.
The free security application does what its name suggests well. However, please note that it is designed to lock out storage devices and not other peripheral USB utilities. You will need to launch the application whenever you want to use it as you cannot set it to start with Windows.
You need administrator privileges to use USB Port Locked on the latest Windows operating systems. The free application is downloadable in a ZIP archive that is only 1.6 MB.
Note: When you initially run the program, the password is: "Unlock".
